The newly constructed CTRL incorporates a wealth of management and maintanence works on the surrounding landscape. The asset measures 450 hectares including 1.2 million trees, 250 hectares of grassland and 86 miles of weed free zones. This area is in turn sub-divided into over 1,500 individual plots each of which is carefully managed according to detailed regimes. In addition to ensuring there is no adverse impact on the operational railway the main objective of the contract is to ensure that the new CTRL corridor is seamlessly blended into the Kent landscape as it grows and matures.
